PAX Technology earns EMVCo C8 certification for its A920Pro terminal

PAX Technology, a global leader in payment terminal solutions, announced that its flagship A920Pro model has received EMVCo certification for the Contactless C-8 Specification, strengthening its position as a pioneer in next-generation standards for contactless payments.

Developed by the world’s leading payment networks, the EMVCo C-8 specification sets a new global benchmark:

  • It replaces multiple proprietary kernels with a unified solution that is more secure and easier to implement.

  • It uses elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) for offline authentication, replacing RSA.

  • It integrates Relay Resistance Protocol (RRP) to help prevent fraud from relay attacks.

Benefits for PAX customers

For payment service providers deploying the A920Pro, this certification means:

  • Future readiness: Compliance with upcoming global mandates.

  • Stronger security: Advanced protection against modern threats.

  • Simplified implementation: A single standard reduces costs and integration effort.

  • Seamless transition: Compatibility with existing kernels during migration.

"This certification reinforces our commitment to innovative and secure payment solutions," said Aileen Liu, Director of Payment Technology at PAX Technology. "The A920Pro demonstrates our ability to anticipate the needs of the industry."

Leadership in global standards

As a member of the EMVCo Advisory Board, PAX actively contributes to the definition of payment standards, backed by its technical expertise and proactive approach to compliance and innovation.

Additional certification progress

PAX continues to expand its alignment with global regulations:

  • The A920Pro has completed RED cybersecurity testing and is awaiting final EU certification.

  • Models such as the IM30, E800, and Q25 comply with the European Accessibility Act (EAA), as verified by independent laboratories*.

*Note: The EAA process does not issue formal certificates, but the Verification of Conformity (VOC) confirms technical compliance.
